Deadly beauty: why animals attack tourists?

Regardless of whether the animals are predatory or herbivorous, careless actions of tourists can lead to serious problems. The proximity to wildlife attracts many travelers. At the same time, tourists are often not limited to going to the zoo – they are often interested in meeting face-to-face predators. For example, tourism on the African continent relies heavily on all sorts of safaris, providing the most courageous tourists with the opportunity to look at lions, buffaloes, zebras and elephants in their natural habitat.

It should be noted that travelers thirsting for this kind of extreme, are often interested in precisely the representatives of the cat family – lions, tigers, leopards, lynx and many others. At the same time, according to experts working with these predators, many tourists are too frivolous about the danger posed by the “big cats”. In many ways, this is facilitated by many videos.

On them, the young animals behave like children, and hardly differ from the young cats, which we keep at home. This is the main danger. According to RIA Novosti, in India, for example, dozens of cases of tigers attacking people occur annually. In this country, striped predators often treat people exclusively as food. At the same time, attacks are often lethal for people.
Bears are of no less interest to tourists. “Demand” for kosolapy kept at a consistently high level, but here, too, tourists manage to allow a lot of missteps, which lead to tragic consequences. For example, in many camps that are set straight in the middle of a forest, there is a strict rule that one should not bring strong-smelling food into it, much less take it with us to the tent.
Should we say that tourists often neglect this rule? That is why bears often attack the camps. The predator may well try to sneak into the tent at night to feast on the dish that attracts him, and he will regard the person inside as a rival who also pretends to eat. Practice shows that bears come out victorious from similar battles. At the same time, food waste dumping is prohibited in the camps. Bears are omnivorous, and therefore are not averse to try and rotten food, but even here people are negligent, for which they pay in the end.

However, far from always tourists are attacked only by predators.

Practice shows that these are herbivorous, quite peaceful, at first glance. First of all, we are talking about such giants by human standards as elephants and hippos. As a rule, the attack of elephants occurs in the wild. Many tourists want to see elephants live, but this, according to experts, is extremely dangerous. An angry mother who feels in danger can literally trample a person or cause serious injuries.
At the same time, attacks are also recorded by domesticated elephants. They are often enraged, for example, because of the harsh and irritating odors. In such a situation, it is better for tourists not to be near the animal, otherwise it may end in a pitiable situation. Also, zoologists are not advised to come close and to hippos. In appearance, they look clumsy and insanely calm. But, sensing the danger, the animal can cause serious injury to a person. For all those who doubt, let us emphasize that the behemoth is quite capable of overcoming the crocodile sneaking up on him in the water, and it’s not difficult at all to cope with the person.
